For those not familiar with Google Hacking, it is not actually “hacking” Google by any means. Google Hacking is merely just using the functionality of Google search to its fullest by passing queries to find virtually any file (music, movies, documents, etc.), unprotected web cams, and even passwords (that could be bad)! Consider this a very brief introduction to the power of Google Hacking.

In this brief article I will show you how to pass a simple (but detailed) query to Google in order to find any Mp3 you wish. I must first say it is MUCH easier to spend a buck on iTunes or get it on your favorite download site, but by using this example of Google Hacking you can find virtually anything you would want on the internet.

It all starts here:

1) Go to www.google.com

2) Now, say you want to find the song American Idiot by Green Day. Just use the following example.

In the search field type:

“parent directory” “index of” “green day” “american idiot” “.mp3″, -xxx, -porn, -warez, -0day

Now, after some clicking around I guarantee you will find a site that has American Idiot by Green Day in Mp3 format.

Explaination
To break it down, when there is no index (eg index.html) file found on a web server directory (and that directory is not protected) your browser will display a listing of all the files found in that directory. The listing usually begins with “Index of” and “Parent Directory”, thus we searched for those exact phrases. Also, I included in quotes the name of the artist (Green Day) and the name of the song (American Idiot) that I was searching for. I included the file format I wanted the song in, which is “.mp3″, but I could have just as easily searched for “.mp4″, “.ogg”, “.wma”, etc. Finally, I subtracted many strings from my search, because I didn’t want porn or warez sites to be flashing everywhere.

That’s all there is to it.
